Attractive, Mint State Large Stars 1799 Ten-Dollar1799 MS 62 NGC. Large Stars. Breen 5-G. A common variety of the year that is distinguished by the much larger sized obverse stars. Regardless of variety or date, this is an exceptional early eagle. The surfaces are free from any large or distracting blemishes, nor are there any adjustment marks on either side, just a few field scuffs and luster grazes prevent a higher grade. The coin has thick, reddish tinted mint frost with none of the often-seen prooflikeness common to early tens. Very well defined in the centers, there is a bit of striking softness noted on the peripheral obverse stars, and the third star on the reverse is ill-defined, this being one of the diagnostics of the B. 5-G variety. A rare opportunity to acquire this popular early gold coin in mint condition. (NGC ID# 2623, PCGS# 8562)
