Description:
Bright BD-3 1803 Ten Dollar, AU
Small Stars Reverse
1803 $10 Small Stars Reverse AU50 NGC. Breen-6844, Taraszka-28, BD-3, R.4. Bass-Dannreuther Obverse State b/Reverse State c. The eagle's upper beak near a star point along with the right side of the E in STATES over a space between clouds diagnoses the readily available (in context) BD-3. The Small Stars reverse is a loan from its first use, the BD-2 of 1801. The same 1803-dated obverse is employed for all six varieties of the year. The bright surfaces exhibit pleasing medium orange-gold color, accenting deeper reddish patina around the devices. The strike is somewhat soft through the centers, although the remainder of the coin is relatively well-defined. Numerous small but individually insignificant abrasions are consistent with the grade and a short spate in circulation.(Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 2628, PCGS# 8565)
