Pleasing 1797 Half Dime, 15 Stars1797 H10C 15 Stars AU58 PCGS. V-2, LM-1, R.3. Rich lavender-gray and cobalt-blue toning embraces this suitably lustrous near-Mint example. The centers are somewhat soft, as made, but the reverse is refreshingly unabraded, while the obverse possesses only a trivial pinscratch in the field above the base of the neck. Faint adjustment marks on the drapery and cheek are detected upon lengthy perusal. The Draped Bust, Small Eagle half dime was only produced in 1796 and 1797, which is also the case for the dime and half dollar denominations. The 15 Stars variety is also noteworthy for its small date. Both 7's are small, while the other 1797 have either one or two large 7's. An intermediate die state with clashmarks near STATES and a slender radial crack through the E in UNITED.(Registry values: P6) (NGC ID# 22ZZ, PCGS# 4258)
