Description:
Attractive 1797 15 Stars Half Dime, LM-1, MS63
1797 H10C 15 Stars MS63 NGC. V-2, LM-1, R.3. Star 15 touches bust, and there are two inner berries and one outer. The first 1797 half dimes were the 15 Stars coins, struck early in the year. Today they are the most plentiful of all 1797 half dime varieties, and the easiest to acquire in Mint State grades (Russell Logan and John McCloskey, 1998).
This Select piece has bold design details everywhere except at the center of the obverse and reverse, a typical characteristic of the issue. The ivory surfaces have frosty luster with hints of light gold-tan toning. A few light marks are seen on each side, but an attractive coin overall. Census: 7 in 63, 19 finer (8/09), for all 1797 half dime varieties.(Registry values: P6) (NGC ID# 22ZZ, PCGS# 4258)
