Description:
MS61 Breen 5-D 1807 Capped Bust Half Eagle
1807 $5 Bust Left MS61 NGC. B. 5-D, Miller-101, R.3. Sharply struck with good luster and a few faint slide marks in the field. 1807 was the inaugural year of John Reich's Capped Bust Left design, which would rule the denomination until 1813. Early Half Eagles are elusive even for issues with a higher mintage, as they were widely melted once their bullion value exceeded face. (NGC ID# 25P9, PCGS# 8101)
