Lustrous and Richly Toned AU50 Tall 5 1811 Half Eagle1811 $5 Tall 5 AU50 PCGS. B. 1-A, Miller-115, Breen-6463, R.4. Only two die varieties exist for the 1811 issue, which are readily distinguished by the size of the 5 in the denomination. The Tall 5 variety is considered to be slightly scarcer. The present example is from a sharp strike and has rich golden-brown color. The luster, although a bit subdued, is very extensive for the grade. There are no mentionable abrasions. There is a hint of die clash (as struck) below the beak of the eagle, with the dies otherwise perfect. A pleasing example of this scarce variety. (PCGS# 8110)
