Description:
1798 BD-2 Quarter Eagle, VF Details
Five Berries Reverse
1798 $2 1/2 Five Berries -- Damaged -- NGC Details. VF. Breen-6117, BD-2, R.5. Among 18th century quarter eagles, 1797 is the rarest issue, followed by 1796 With Stars. Most collectors incorrectly think that 1796 No Stars is the third rarest, when in fact, it is the most plentiful of the four issues. The 1798 quarter eagles are clearly rarer than the No Stars of 1796.
This green-gold example is conditionally challenged. It has been cleaned, bent, scratched, and abraded. However, it is a rare 1798 quarter eagle that retains considerable charm and importance.
