Description:
Choice AU 1802/1 Quarter Eagle, BD-3
1802/1 $2 1/2 AU55 NGC. CAC. Breen-6118, BD-3, R.5. The BD-3 falls in the middle of the three die pairs for the year with regard to rarity -- and considering that the BD-3 itself is rare regardless of grade, it speaks to the lack of availability for the date as a whole. On this Choice AU example, faintly green-gold surfaces are radiant with tiny pockets of reflectivity in the protected areas of the reverse. Several strong adjustment marks, a natural feature of the coin, run down and slightly to the right through the portrait, though other, less parallel flaws are scattered across each side and contribute to the grade.
