Description:

Near-Mint 1802/1 Two and a Half, BD-3
1802/1 $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. BD-3, R.5. All three die varieties of 1802-dated quarter eagles share the same obverse die. BD-3 is midway in rarity among the three reverses, and is distinguished by clear repunching on the leftmost reverse star. This minimally abraded Borderline Uncirculated example displays minor adjustment marks (as issued) above Liberty's ear and on the left obverse rim, but the only remotely mentionable post-strike contact is a single inconspicuous line along the cap beneath the L in LIBERTY. The centers show softness typical of the type, but the eagle's wings and other design details are bold. Census: 21 in 58, 26 finer (2/13).(Registry values: P6) (NGC ID# 25F6, PCGS# 7650)

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
