Description:
Attractive 1807 Quarter Eagle, BD-1, VF35
1807 $2 1/2 VF35 PCGS. BD-1, R.3. The only variety known. The low mintage (estimated at 6,812 pieces) of this issue exemplifies the fact that the Quarter Eagle was not a favored denomination during the early 19th century. This piece exhibits splendid orange-gold patina with accents of olive-green and tan. Although the obverse denticles are incomplete at the top, the rest of the features are clearly defined. Scattered abrasions define the grade, and a few shallow abrasions in the right obverse field are barely worthy of note. An attractive and fully original example of this scarce issue.
