Description:
Bold About Uncirculated 1830 Quarter Eagle
1830 $2 1/2 AU53 PCGS. Breen-6133, R.4. Only one die variety of 1830 Quarter Eagles is known, and it is distinguished by the recut left upright of the I in AMERICA. A stingy mintage of just 4,540 pieces is recorded, and most of mintage found its way to the melting pot once its bullion value exceeded face. Generally well struck, although a couple of lines in the shield are not completely brought up. Very close to Mint State in terms of wear, this green label example has perhaps been assigned a conservative grade due to a few wispy hairlines in the reverse field. (#7670) (Registry values: P4) (NGC ID# 25FL, PCGS# 7670)
