Description:
Uncirculated Details BD-1
1832 Quarter Eagle
1832 $2 1/2 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. Unc. BD-1, R.4. The sole die marriage for this rare date. Just 4,400 pieces were struck, and a sizeable majority of those were melted long ago. The present unworn green-gold representative is hairlined and the reverse field near the eagle is glossy. The strike is generally sharp with slight inexactness on the curl above the ear and the left shield border. The Capped Head type was struck intermittently between 1821 and 1834. Although all dates are rare, the patience advanced collector can acquire each of them, since unlike its half eagle cousin, the series has no great rarities.
