Fine 12 1796 Quarter, B-21796 25C Fine 12 PCGS. B-2, R.3. The high 6 in the date and the greater distance between star 15 and the bust tip are the chief differences between the B-2 and the slightly scarcer B-1, but most collectors would love to own a 1796 Bust quarter of either variety. As an issue that is not only a first-year type coin but the only quarter minted with the Draped Bust, Small Eagle design combination, the 1796 quarter is high on the hit list of many collectors. This Fine example shows full rims and dentilation on each side, and deep detail remains in Liberty's hair and the eagle's wing feathers. The surfaces are slate-gray but show remarkably few signs of contact.
