1804 25C Fine 15 PCGS....
Elusive 1804 Quarter, B-2, Fine 151804 25C Fine 15 PCGS. B-2, R.5. A rare variety, B-2 is distinguished by the high 4 in the date and a final star that is further from the bust truncation. This variety is seldom encountered in grades above the VG level. Of course, the low mintage 1804 (just 6,738 pieces struck) is one of the key dates of the entire denomination. The issue has always been prized by collectors, and auction appearances go back at least as far as the A.C. Kline Sale (M. Thomas & Sons, 6/1855), when an example was included as lot 277. The present coin is an attractive specimen, with rich mauve and gold colors bathing the nicely detailed surfaces. Abrasions are minimal for the grade. Listed in the condition census in the Steve Tompkins reference Early United States Quarters 1796-1838.(Registry values: P7) (NGC ID# 23RB, PCGS# 5312)
