Description:
Attractive and Original VF30 1804 Quarter
1804 25C VF30 PCGS. B-1, High R.3. While not a one-year type like the 1796, the 1804 is often mentioned in the same breath as that first-year issue. The 1804 is, however, the first year of the Heraldic Eagle design and a very scarce early Quarter with a mintage of only 6,738 pieces. This piece has even wear over the highpoints with stronger definition on the reverse relative to the obverse. Original gunmetal-gray patina covers each side with a faint undertone of rose. Lightly abraded, the most obvious marks are a couple in the field just to the right of Liberty's chin and an old, shallow scratch between the stars on right side of the reverse. (NGC ID# 23RB, PCGS# 5312)
