Description:
Choice XF 1807 Draped Bust Quarter
1807 25C XF45 PCGS. B-1, R.3. The reverse die of this variety is unique in the Draped Bust quarter series as having only four berries in the olive branch. It was also used to strike examples of the 1805 B-4 and 1806 B-1 varieties, such recycling of dies being common practice for the early Philadelphia Mint. Anyhow, this is an original survivor with dusky steel-gray toning with rose and blue undertones as the coin is turned under a light. A few clashmarks are noted in the fields as are some scattered pinscratches in localized areas.(Registry values: P5) (NGC ID# 23RF, PCGS# 5316)
