Description:
1836 Judd-60 Gobrecht Dollar, PR58
Fully Struck Die Alignment IV Example
1836 P$1 Name on Base, Judd-60, Pollock-65, R.5, PR58 PCGS. CAC. Silver. Plain Edge. No Stars Obverse, Stars Reverse. Die Alignment IV (head of Liberty opposite the F in OF after a medal turn). Die Alignment IV coins are believed to have been struck in March 1837 and are characterized by the eagle flying level (after a medallic turn) and the diagonal die clash mark above the eagle's wing.
This is an especially pleasing coin that shows just the slightest evidence of handling. The fields are bright and reflective with medium density, smoky gray-golden toning with a slight undertone of rose. There are several tiny specks of darker green color scattered mostly in the right obverse field. Fully struck with complete definition on Liberty's head and foot. (PCGS# 11227)

Needless to say I was overwhelmed by the results of the auction and I truly believe it was Jill’s efforts in promoting and displaying the piece that brought in the extra value.
