Description:
Phenomenal MS66 1854 Type One Gold Dollar
1854 G$1 Type One MS66 PCGS. The 1854 is one of the most frequently encountered Gold Dollars in Uncirculated condition. However, at the MS66 level it is anything but common. Only 10 coins have been so graded by both of the major services combined with only three finer (1/03). This is a fully struck piece that shows amazingly well preserved surfaces. The obverse has a slightly granular texture over the figure of Liberty and evidence of heavy metal flow around the margin. The reverse is smooth and both sides display thick mint frost. The rich orange-gold coloration is tempered by a light accent of lilac in the fields. Simply outstanding quality and a perfect type coin. (NGC ID# 25BY, PCGS# 7525)
