Description

Finest Certified 1860 Gold Dollar, MS67 PCGS

1860 G$1 MS67 PCGS. The 1860 Gold Dollar is the rarest Philadelphia Mint issue prior to 1863. Less than 40,000 pieces were struck, and unlike the later low mintage issues, few were set aside. A scarce issue in all grades, it is practically unknown above Gem. In fact, this is the only MS67 certified by either of the major grading services. This gorgeous coin is well struck in the centers, although a couple of letters opposite the upper wreath are not completely brought up. A prooflike and essentially pristine Superb Gem, with lovely rose tinting intermixed with the natural golden-orange coloration of the coin.(#7555) (Registry values: N1) (NGC ID# 25CR, PCGS# 7555)
