Great Britain: George II gold 5 Guineas 1729-E.I.C.,...
George II gold 5 Guineas 1729-E.I.C., S-3664, Young laureate Head, Tertio edge, Genuine "cleaning - AU details" PCGS. The cataloguer disagrees completely with PCGS's assessment as the coin shows only light hairlines on lustrous surfaces, has just a little honest wear and a pleasing portrait with only a tiny spot of alloy imperfection, the reverse shield sharp and the reverse a delight, with lovely old reddish red gold color. The distinctive hallmark "E.I.C." stands for the London trading company, the East India Company, which evidently supplied the gold specie used to coin this wonderful fiver.
