A Gorgeous R7 Victoria Proof Saint-George Sovereign!Victoria gold Proof Sovereign 1871, S-3856 variant, KM752, WR-319 (R7: 1-2 known), Young Head, plain edge, raised "WW" half sunken over a lower "WW" in truncation, St George reverse, short tail, large raised "B.P." to right of date, medal-rotation die alignment ("struck en medaille" states WR), PR64 Ultra Cameo NGC, and indeed this is an exceptionally choice and wonderfully eye-appealing proof, fully struck, having just a few wispy contact marks and hairlines, Victoria's portrait silky smooth in texture, the mirrored fields evincing the classic orange-peel texture, rims broad and high of great sharpness, and blessed with gorgeous light gold toning. Very close to flawless. Seemingly 3 known with two in Bentley and possibly finer than the nicer Bentley Collection specimen (Lot 627); if not, then tied for Finest Known. Ex Millennia and Jacob Y. Terner Collections.
