Great Britain: William IV Proof Crown 1831,...
A Splendid Coronation Crown!William IV Proof Crown 1831, S-3833, KM715, plain edge, incuse "W.W." on truncation, coin-rotation die alignment, PR66 Cameo PCGS, a captivating gem of a crown, glittering mirrored fields outlining the king's frosted image (engraved by Wyon) and the elegant crowned and mantled shield reverse (engraved by Merlen), a few tiny ticks in the metal here and there but they are vastly overpowered by the exquisite turquoise and rose-red iridescence, lending this coin spectacular eye-appeal. Very rare, struck only in proof state. The cataloguer has handled and written about a number of lovely crowns of this type, including pieces contained in complete original gold and silver Coronation Proof Sets, but cannot remember ever seeing a more beautiful specimen. A numismatic treasure.
