Scarce Mint State 1800 Draped Bust Half Cent1800 1/2 C MS64 Brown NGC. B-1b, C-1, R.1. A nicely struck early copper with tinges of faded mint color in the recesses combined with delicate steel-blue overtones. Isolated carbon spots can be seen on both sides and there is additional discoloration on the reverse between 2 and 4 o'clock. A common variety, the B-1b represents the first use of the copper blanks imported from Wales by Boulton & Watt. Previously this variety had been struck from cut-down Cent stock or misstruck Cents, which appears to be the case on this uncommonly high grade survivor. Population: 4 in 64 Brown, 0 finer (4/03).
