Description:
Outstanding Gem Red and Brown 1834 Half Cent
1834 1/2 C MS66 Red and Brown NGC. B-1, C-1, R.2. This coin is sharply struck by the dies and boasts very attractive light tan toning over ample mint red, much of which remains. The surfaces are excellent and the only fault are a couple of minor stains and a speck near the third star, common to the coins found in this small hoard. Liberty's face is particularly clean and fresh, with no distracting nicks or bumps and making this specimen far and away finer than virtually any others of this date. The combined NGC and PCGS population reports show only one piece graded this high this one with none seen finer of this date in this category or the full Red version. The single finest certified 1834 Half Cent, none have been graded MS66 Red, or in MS67 or higher grades, by either leading service.(#1166) (Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 2232, PCGS# 1166)
