Description:
1907 Wire Rim High Relief Twenty
1907 $20 High Relief, Wire Rim Genuine PCGS. The PCGS number ending in .92 suggests Cleaning as the reason, or one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this coin has the details of an Uncirculated specimen that has been cleaned. Perhaps just a bit too bright to be believable, the surfaces of this High Relief are sharply defined with full letter separation from the upper rim on the reverse. This example appears to have been struck from a slightly porous planchet, a detail that is not apparent unless closely examined with a loupe. This is quite unusual, in fact the first we remember having seen, as quality control was so tight in the production of these coins. There are no obvious or mentionable surface flaws on either side of this surprisingly attractive High Relief. (NGC ID# 26F2, PCGS# 9135)

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens as Illustrated by the Morse and Duckor Collections
Revised Edition by James L. Halperin, Mark R. Borckardt, Mark Van Winkle, Jon Amato, and Gregory J. Rohan, with special contributor David W. Akers

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on two extraordinary collections: The Phillip H. Morse collection and the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor collection.
