Description:
1907 Twenty Dollar High Relief, MS64+
Pronounced Wire Rim Around Each Side
1907 $20 High Relief, Wire Rim MS64+ PCGS. CAC. After a long and highly successful career that culminated as America's preeminent sculptor, Augustus Saint-Gaudens was presented with the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy when President Roosevelt tapped him to redesign American coinage. The redesign of all the denominations was too much for him, or any individual. However, with his design for the double eagle he was able to capture the spirit and vitality of what would become The American Century. This high-end MS64 example is remarkably well-preserved with soft, frosted mint luster and no noticeable contact marks. One small alloy spot is located at 3 o'clock near the obverse rim. For specialists, the wire rim is almost complete around each side.(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 26F2, PCGS# 9135)

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens as Illustrated by the Morse and Duckor Collections
Revised Edition by James L. Halperin, Mark R. Borckardt, Mark Van Winkle, Jon Amato, and Gregory J. Rohan, with special contributor David W. Akers

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on two extraordinary collections: The Phillip H. Morse collection and the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor collection.
