Description

1866 Indian Cent, MS66 Red
Rare With Intact Mint Luster, Ex: Walsh

1866 1C MS66 Red PCGS. CAC. Ex: Joshua and Ally Walsh. A thoroughly appealing Premium Gem for the Indian cent specialist. The obverse shows bright reddish-yellow coloration that deepens near the rim to sunset-orange. The reverse is a deeper, intense orange-red. Neither side reveals any singularly mentionable surface blemishes, and the strike is as full as ever seen on the issue, with sharpness up to the feather tips and four diamonds visible in the ribbon on the obverse. Minor flecks are undistracting and testament to the originality. Population: 5 in 66 Red, 0 finer (6/12).
Ex: Joshua and Ally Walsh Collection (Heritage, 1/2006), lot 3050; Central States Signature (Heritage, 4-5/2009), lot 2069, where it realized $10,350.(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 227P, PCGS# 2087)
