Description:
Bright MS62 1907 Wire Rim Ten Dollar
1907 $10 Wire Rim MS62 PCGS. The Wire Rim ten is technically a pattern issue, even though 500 pieces were produced. A small knife rim of extruded metal around each side gives this issue its name as well as the reason for its rejection for high speed coin production and the needs of the country's commercial and banking interests for a "stackable" gold coin. As a result of its pattern status, most Wire Rim tens are located in Mint State condition, unless they were mishandled by non-collectors at the time of issue. The obverse of this piece has a fine-grain texture, and the reverse shows the myriad die striations this issue is so well known for. Sharply struck throughout with evidence of slight coin-to-coin contact, this is an attractive, yet more affordable example of this important, experimental ten dollar issue from 1907. (NGC ID# 268B, PCGS# 8850)

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens as Illustrated by the Morse and Duckor Collections
Revised Edition by James L. Halperin, Mark R. Borckardt, Mark Van Winkle, Jon Amato, and Gregory J. Rohan, with special contributor David W. Akers

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on two extraordinary collections: The Phillip H. Morse collection and the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor collection.
