Because of the slight hub and die modifications before the 1908 coins were struck, the definition is superior on this date to those seen from 1907. The mint frost on this piece is superior and, like the three 1907 tens from the Kutasi Collection, shows rich rose-gold coloration with lilac accents in the recesses of the design. The fields have a fine granularity, as seen on all tens through 1916. One of only three coins so graded by PCGS with five certified MS67 by NGC, and only one finer (an NGC coin). The most recent sale of this date in Gem condition was the sale of a MS66 example in our April 2006 Central States Signature Sale that realized $51,750.
