Description

1914 Ten Dollar, MS63
Bright Mint Luster

1914 $10 MS63 NGC. CAC. The 1914 ten dollar is common in most grades, including the better levels of Mint State. This likely results, at least in part, from a large number of this date being hoarded with the start of the First World War. Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth suggest that many survivors spent their first 40 to 60 years in European bank vaults. The surfaces are brightly lustrous and the design motifs are sharp throughout.(Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 28H2, PCGS# 8875)

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens as Illustrated by the Morse and Duckor Collections
Revised Edition by James L. Halperin, Mark R. Borckardt, Mark Van Winkle, Jon Amato, and Gregory J. Rohan, with special contributor David W. Akers

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on two extraordinary collections: The Phillip H. Morse collection and the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor collection.
