Description

Appealing Select 1914-S Indian Eagle

1914-S $10 MS63 NGC. The fine grain, matte-like surfaces of this attractive example display a pleasing, softly frosted sheen. Light lime-gold and rose toning increases the eye appeal of the piece. The shallow line to the left of the date, that extends upward to a point even with Liberty's mouth, is suggestive of minor die buckling rather than an abrasion. Few other marks are evident, including a small one just above the bridge of Liberty's nose.

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens as Illustrated by the Morse and Duckor Collections
Revised Edition by James L. Halperin, Mark R. Borckardt, Mark Van Winkle, Jon Amato, and Gregory J. Rohan, with special contributor David W. Akers

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on two extraordinary collections: The Phillip H. Morse collection and the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor collection.
