Description

1916-S Ten Dollar Indian, MS64
Popular S-Mint From This Difficult Series

1916-S $10 MS64 PCGS. The 1916-S is a well-known issue in the ten dollar Indian series. It is a moderate rarity, both in terms of absolute and condition rarity. Its popularity undoubtedly is attributable to this issue's unavailability before the emergence of two hoards in the 1970s. This lovely near-Gem has reddish-gold color with subtle hints of lilac interspersed over the frosted surfaces. Several small- to medium-sized grade-limiting abrasions are scattered over each side, none worthy of individual mention.

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens as Illustrated by the Morse and Duckor Collections
Revised Edition by James L. Halperin, Mark R. Borckardt, Mark Van Winkle, Jon Amato, and Gregory J. Rohan, with special contributor David W. Akers

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on two extraordinary collections: The Phillip H. Morse collection and the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor collection.

I’ve been extremely satisfied with every coin I’ve purchased based on Jim’s recommendation. I can’t imagine building a collection any other way.
