Description

1932 Indian Eagle, Unsurpassable Superb Gem Grade

1932 $10 MS 67 NGC. More than 4.4 million eagles were produced at the Philadelphia Mint in 1932 and, as such, this issue has little trouble edging out the 1926 as the most common Indian eagle in all grades. Low grade Uncirculated survivors are plentiful and even Gems are obtainable. Gold is, however, the softest coinage metal and coins of this size are magnets for bagmarks. On the other hand, the present specimen displays incredibly smooth surfaces that must have been preserved since the moment this piece left the coining press. Although predominantly frosty, the surfaces show a decided satiny texture with mesmerizing cartwheel effects. Every last design element is crisply defined and the rich crimson-gold and orange-gold color swirls have to be seen to be fully appreciated. A coin of singular beauty that shares the MS 67 level with only two other pieces at both NGC and PCGS (2/00). (NGC ID# 28HB, PCGS# 8884)
