1908 Indian Five Dollar1908 $5 MS65+ NGC. CAC. The Indian chief's cheek, completely free of mentionable abrasions, is the first clue to the high quality of this MS65+ coin certified by NGC. Even the fields before the chieftain's head are free of all but tiny marks. Then one notices the extremely bold strike on the small feathers in the headdress, the high points thereof, and the necklace (all save for the lowest bear claw). The reverse is virtually impeccable as well, showing only the most minor signs of contact in the fields, away from any focal points. (Two minor ticks appear on the front wing but appear to be consistent with the grade.) The surfaces are somewhat mattelike and boast lovely khaki-gold color and excellent eye appeal. A nice example for this first-year type. Census: 3 in 65+, 21 finer (2/13).
From The William Jacob Collection, Part II.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 28DE, PCGS# 8510)
