Colorful MS 66 1908-S Five--From the Green Mountain Collection1908-S MS 66 PCGS. Always a popular coin because of its low mintage and first year of issue status, the '08-S is not as elusive in the upper reaches of mint state as the mintage of 82,000 pieces and the rarity of subsequent S-mints might indicate. That aside, the 1908-S five dollar Indian offered here is nonetheless an extraordinary coin. The satiny luster is unbelievably vibrant and basically undisturbed by contact with other coins. Both sides show a lovely pinkish-orange and lilac coloration that screams originality. On the reverse there are also light copper stains on the eagle's wing and back leg. From the Green Mountain Collection. Population: 10 in 66, 2 finer (4/98). (NGC ID# 28DG, PCGS# 8512)
