Description:
1909 Indian Half Eagle, MS65+
High Quality, Sharply Struck Example
1909 $5 MS65+ PCGS. CAC. A large mintage of 627,060 Indian half eagles was achieved at the Philadelphia Mint in 1909, and the issue is reasonably available in lower Mint State grades today. The date becomes quite scarce at the Gem level, and any higher grade is virtually unobtainable, so this MS65+ example represents the highest quality the average collector can aspire to. Currently, only eight coins have been certified in higher numeric grades at PCGS (10/10).
The present coin is an impressive high-end Gem, with a razor-sharp strike, and bright mint luster. The surfaces are an attractive yellow-gold color, with rose highlights, and eye appeal is outstanding.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 28DH, PCGS# 8513)
