Description

1909-O Half Eagle, AU58
The Last New Orleans Gold Issue

1909-O $5 AU58 NGC. The 1909-O is not the sole key to the Indian half eagle series, but due to its unusual status within the series, it is among the most celebrated. It is the last O-mint gold coin struck and the only New Orleans Indian Head issue of any denomination, making it a conspicuous anachronism; the mint would permanently suspend coinage operations later in the same year. Most collectors choose an example in the AU58-MS62 grade range, as higher-graded examples are quite expensive. This near-Mint State coin shows much remaining luster and brightness overall. Mentionable marks include some ticks in the field before the Indian's cheek, along with an angling scrape through US in TRUST on the reverse. The mintmark is bold.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 25ZK, PCGS# 8515)

The way you grouped lots, photographed, and presented the material was too notch. I was impressed that you took the time to attribute coins to the Krause reference as their "plate coin" and that many of your descriptions included pertinent facts and infor
