Description:
1909-S Half Eagle, MS62
Elusive in Mint State
1909-S $5 MS62 PCGS. Despite a mintage approaching 300,000 pieces, the 1909-S Indian Head five dollar is an elusive issue in all Mint State grades, and virtually unobtainable in Gem. Pumpkin-gold patination bathes the lustrous surfaces of this MS62 example. The design elements are well impressed, save for the typically seen softness on the eagle's shoulder. A few unobtrusive marks limit the grade. Population: 88 in 62 (2 in 62+), 44 finer (12/12).
From The Richmond Hill Collection.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 25ZL, PCGS# 8516)
