Description:

Crisply Struck 1911-D Two and a Half, MS62
1911-D $2 1/2 MS62 PCGS. CAC. The memorably low mintage of 55,680 examples of the 1911-D quarter eagle is in-between its bigger siblings the half eagle and eagle, at 72,500 and 30,100 pieces, respectively. But the difference is that the 1911-D quarter eagle is the sole key to its short and completable series, whereas the eagle series in particular is filled with notable and pricey rarities.
The surfaces of this MS62 example are strongly yellow-gold, with dips into deeper sun-yellow and lighter canary at varying points at the margins. The strike is crisp across both portrait and eagle, and the often-weak mintmark is readily visible. Both sides show a number of light abrasions and wispy marks, yet the overall appearance is clean for the grade.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 2894, PCGS# 7943)
