Description:
Undisputed Key Date 1911-D Quarter Eagle, MS62 PCGS
1911-D $2 1/2 MS62 PCGS. Some survivors of this important 20th century gold issue are so poorly impressed that the all-important D mintmark is not discernible. The present example, on the other hand, is boldly detailed throughout with a readily evident mintmark. Both sides are mostly honey-gold in appearance, although select angles reveal delicate golden-rose overtones here and there. There are few abrasions of any size--an uncommon feature for an Indian Quarter Eagle at the BU level--and certainly none that are worthy of special consideration. The 1911-D boasts the lowest mintage (55,680 pieces) in this series, and it is the undisputed key.(#7943) (Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 2894, PCGS# 7943)
