Rare S-96, Die State II+
1796 1C Draped Bust, Reverse of 1795, S-96, B-32, R.6 PCGS Genuine. Breen Die State II+ with a prominent bisecting crack on the reverse between 3 o'clock and 8:30. The reverse field is prominently buckled near the C in CENT, unmentioned in Breen or Noyes, and a later die state than the Holmes discovery specimen. A very rare Sheldon variety. This example has Fine details but the deep lavender-brown surfaces are moderately granular and the left obverse field has many faded pinscratches. All legends are bold. Tied for seventh finest. Our EAC grade VG7.
