Description:

1882-CC Double Eagle, MS60
Minimally Abraded
1882-CC $20 MS60 PCGS. Variety 1-A. The first C in the mintmark is higher than the second, and the right side of the second C is over the center of the left upright of the D in DOLLARS. This issue is quite available in grades from Very Fine to About Uncirculated. Mint State pieces are much more difficult to come by. Most Uncirculated pieces graded by PCGS are in the MS60 to MS62 range; the two MS63 coins are the finest graded by that service.

The yellow-gold surfaces of this MS60 specimen exhibit well struck design features and a good amount of luster. A few minute marks do not significantly detract from the coin's eye appeal. Fewer contact marks are seen than is typical for this issue. Population: 4 in 60, 57 finer (4/13).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 26BF, PCGS# 8997)
