Description:
1890 Liberty Double Eagle, MS62+
Low-Mintage Philadelphia Issue
1890 $20 MS62+ PCGS. CAC. The mintage of Philadelphia Mint double eagles was limited to 75,940 examples in 1890 -- substantially less than the 802,750-piece output of the San Francisco facility, and slightly less than the 91,209 specimens produced at Carson City. High-grade specimens are rare in today's market, as the small mintage would suggest. The present coin is a high-end MS62 example with sharply rendered devices and strong mint luster. Population: 3 in 62+, 37 finer (5/11).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 26BX, PCGS# 9013)
