Description:
Scarce 1902 Double Eagle, MS63
An Important Low-Mintage Issue
1902 $20 MS63 PCGS. The 1902 double eagle is the lowest-mintage (31,140 pieces) Liberty Head twenty between 1894 and the end of the type in 1907. As can be seen from the certified population data, the issue is scarce in all grades through MS63 and rare any finer. Mint State pieces are heavily concentrated in the MS61 and MS62 range.

The lustrous surfaces of this Select specimen display wheat-gold patination with whispers of apricot and faint red. The strike is sharp throughout, including Liberty's hair, the star centrils, and most of the eagle's plumage. The few scattered light marks are within the parameters of the grade designation. Population: 70 in 63 (1 in 63+), 9 finer (3/13).
