Description

1842 $10 Large Date MS 64 PCGS. A beautiful near-Gem specimen with satiny luster and minimally abraded surfaces. A few tiny scuff marks are present in the fields, and minor abrasions are visible on each side. Liberty's portrait is exceptionally clean, and the overall eye appeal is superior for the assigned grade. From an original mintage of 62,884 pieces. While not a rare issue in lower circulated grades, this issue is a great rarity in Mint State. The two major services have graded just seven Mint State coins combined, and only three are in grades above MS 61. This is one of two pieces certified at the MS 64 level, thus a strong argument could be made that this is the finest known example. A splendid coin that will make a spectacular addition to any fine collection, this piece should excite tremendous spirit on the bidding floor. (NGC ID# 262K, PCGS# 8584)

I received the catalog and was very impressed with its color illustrations, descriptions and attractive layout. (It has better production values than the New York houses.)
