Description:
1842-O $10 AU50 NGC. Although not nearly as rare as the first eagle struck at the New Orleans Mint (the 1841-O, which had a mintage of 2,500 pieces), the 1842-O is quite scarce in high grades. Most examples were heavily circulated, and before the discovery of the S.S. Republic it was difficult for collectors to locate an AU example. Charming orange-gold patina embraces the lustrous and minimally marked surfaces. An evenly worn and handsome representative.
From The Kiawah Collection.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 262N, PCGS# 8587)
