1845 $10 AU50 NGC. Despite a higher mintage of 26,153 coins, the 1845 is equally as rare as the 1844 (6,361 pieces produced), and it is just as difficult to locate as the 1839 Type on '40 and the 1846. Since Breen (1988) asserts that this date is "prohibitively rare above EF," we expect that this partially lustrous AU survivor will see spirited bidding among 19th century gold specialists. There are ample remnants of a semi-prooflike finish, this despite a scuffy appearance and light rub from circulation. Well detailed with a few moderate abrasions scattered about.(#8592) (Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 262U, PCGS# 8592)
