Well Struck and Clean MS62 1853 Ten Dollar1853 $10 MS62 PCGS. The 1853 is a conditionally rare issue that can be located with little difficulty in XF and lower AU grades. However, it is very elusive in Mint State, as PCGS has certified just 20 examples in MS60 and above, many of which could well be resubmissions. The present example has pleasing eye appeal. The eagle is well struck, as is the portrait, with minor weakness of detail only on the E in LIBERTY and a few of the uppermost stars. The surfaces are surprisingly clean for the grade, especially on the reverse. The luster is extensive and luminous. The upper obverse and reverse both have faint die cracks. Population: 3 in 62, 5 finer (4/03). (NGC ID# 263E, PCGS# 8610)
