Lustrous Near Mint 1853-O Liberty Eagle1853-O $10 AU58 PCGS. Although minute doubling appears below the 53 in the date, this example must be considered a product of the normal dies for the year, and not one of the doubled date varieties. Regardless, it is an extremely rare coin in the highest circulated grades, and essentially non-existent in full Mint State preservation, as indicated by the extremely limited population. Not fully struck, however, the design elements are mostly sharp in their appearance. The surfaces are reflective with pleasing greenish-gold coloration. A few light abrasions are noted, but nowhere near the norm for this elusive date. Population: 13 in 58, 2 finer (4/06).(Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 263F, PCGS# 8612)
