1856 $10 MS61 NGC. Rarer than the 1847, 1849, 1850, 1853, ...
Condition Rarity 1856 Liberty Ten Dollar, Brilliant Uncirculated Preservation1856 $10 MS61 NGC. Rarer than the 1847, 1849, 1850, 1853, and 1855, the 1856 (60,490 pieces produced) is equally as elusive as the 1848 and 1852. The '56-P is somewhat more obtainable in Mint State than either of the final two dates, but both major grading services have seen just 23 coins that range in preservation from MS60 through MS64 (1/02). This satiny example displays pleasing brightness in the fields with sharp striking definition over the central features. The number of abrasions is consistent with the designated grade, there is a faint obverse planchet streak (as produced) through the date. (NGC ID# 263P, PCGS# 8619)
